STANDING ON LEBANESE SOIL, I FELT THAT MY COUNTRY HAS BENEATH IT MANY CENTURIES OF PURE GOLD THE WORLD HAS YET TO DISCOVER.
I became familiar with the impact this pure gold had on our health, when it was used to heal my youngest son’s severe digestive distress. The daily use of our organic olive oil that was made using traditional methods of cultivation and cold pressing handed down from generation to generation was the hidden treasure that completely healed my son’s condition.
Our Journey
A Family Separated by War
Shadia’s parents left Lebanon in 1974, just before the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil War. At just 18 years old, they made the difficult decision to leave everything behind in search of safety and a better future in the U.S. The war that followed made it nearly impossible for them to return, keeping them separated from loved ones for decades.
Falling in Love with Lebanon
At 16, Shadia took her first trip to Lebanon—a journey that felt like coming home. Born and raised in the U.S., she had only heard stories about her parents’ homeland. But stepping into Beirut, with its vibrant energy and warm hospitality, she knew this place was a part of her.
That summer, she spent two unforgettable months exploring Lebanon, going from restaurant to restaurant and immersing herself in its culture. During her trip, Shadia witnessed a moment that would stay with her forever—her mother’s emotional reunion with her sister after 18 years apart.
Year after year, she returned, deepening her connection to the land and its people. In 2018, she made it official—purchasing a beautiful villa in Aley, a place she could always return to.
Yusha is the heart behind the mission at Mediterranean Gold. In 2019, Shadia’s young son developed severe IBS. Conventional medicine offered little relief. After struggling with chronic health issues for years—including fatigue, inflammation, and digestive problems— Shadia’s father, who grew up in a small Lebanese village, suggested a simple but powerful remedy: pure, locally harvested olive oil.
Intrigued, Shadia traveled to the village and discovered something extraordinary—farmers hand-harvesting olives, pressing them using centuries-old techniques, and creating an oil unlike anything found in stores. She tasted it fresh from the press, and in that moment, she knew she had to bring this incredible olive oil back home to her son.
