We all hear about the benefits of pure olive oil, but not all olive oil is created the same. Our olive oil is grown in a nutrient rich environment with no pesticides or fertilizers which allows a higher concentration of polyphenol levels. These high levels of polyphenols naturally contain high levels of antioxidants which help build a stronger immune system and lower inflammation.
The quantity and quality of polyphenols in olive oil is related to the process of olive milling and how it is processed. Our olive oil is hand-picked and taken immediately to be cold pressed which yields a substantially higher amounts of polyphenols than other oils.
Clinical studies have linked the Mediterranean diet and high polyphenol olive oil with protecting heart health by reducing blood pressure, blood sugar and high cholesterol levels. When tasting our olive oil, you will get a slight burning sensation at the back of the throat (called pungency) this is caused by Extra Virgin Olive Oil’s (EVOO) natural phenolic compound oleocanthal. The higher the concentration of oleocanthal in an EVOO, the stronger the pungent feeling is which in turn has very high anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
